After graduation, I went to Ft. Jackson, South
Carolina. Six months training through the National
Guard. After that, I was married to Ethel Lavergne.
She is Betty Whetnall's (Lavergne) little sister. We
did not stay married very long. I later married
Marcia Neal Sonnier in 1964. We had one child,
Tommie Lelia. I went to work at PPG in lake Charles
on Jan. 31, 1967. I put in 34.5 years of shift work
and retired on May 31, 2001. We moved to Zachary,
La. to be near our daughter who lives in the north
part of Baton Rouge. My wife of
40 years and 2 months passed away on Nov. 3,
2004. I was diagnosed with lung cancer on Mother's
Day of 2006. With the help of God's and all the
prayer lists that I am on, I am going to survive this.
