Following graduation from Sulphur High, I attended
McNeese and graduated with a degree in Education. After
only 1 year of teaching in Orange, Texas, I "retired"
thinking I would never go back into a classroom again. I
worked in Port Arthur, Texas as a Field Director for Camp
Fire Girls for 3 1/2 years, returning to Sulphur to marry
Steve, who had fled Hungary in 1956 during the
Revolution.(I met him at the YMCA while I was attending
McNeese )

I then worked as a Kelly Girl at Firestone Refinery for 2 1/2
years, until we were expecting our first child. We decided
that I would be a stay-at-home mother, so I stayed home
until my youngest son was in High School. Then God
called me back into the classroom as a Kindergarten
teacher. I taught 12 years at J. I. Watson in Iowa, La.
before retiring from teaching (again) in 2001. (Steve
retired as an electrician the year before.)

We are the parents of three sons. and now have a
granddaughter. Zsofia Rose, was born on November 29,
2007. She is named after Steve's mother who had the
same birthday, and after Tina's grandmother who
lived to be 100 and died one year before on that date.

Steve and I are fortunate to be in good health. I am
blessed to be a 19 year breast cancer survivor and
although Steve has chronic lung problems,  we stay very
active in our church and community, doing volunteer work
and playing games, especially beanbag baseball and
ping-pong. We  participate in the Senior Games at
McNeese each spring. I also enjoy working with our youth
at church, and have been on their mission trips every
summer since my retirement.

Steve still has family in Hungary and Sweden, so I have
enjoyed traveling there and also to Jamaica where
our oldest son was married.

God is good, and we have experienced many blessings!
