Freddie McLemore Sulphur, LA

Joeann Wright McLemore, my wife of 46 years.
She was class of 59.
After graduation from SHS and survival from
both Hurricane Audrey and working at Pelican
State Lumber Yard for my dad, I started
college at LSU. In my junior year I married
Joeann Wright my "first" and only wife of 46
years. (She is my gift from God)
We have three children, Dan who is about to
retire from active duty LANG after almost 27
years(married to Tracy Scott from Sulphur and
a former teacher at SHS and now a professor
at McNeese); Tim, who is in Hawaii in
Maintenance Contracting and a "surf boarding
beach bum" to the max.; Chris (our baby girl)
is a senior project manager for AOL and lives
in Virginia outside of DC. Both Tim and Chris
are having too much fun right now to be
married to anyone.
We have 5 wonderful grandchildren. Four of
them are here in Sulphur with Dan and Tracy
and one is with our former daughter-in-law in
Wisconsin.
After almost 28 rewarding years in the US
Army, we retired to Carencro, Louisiana where
we restored the Eraste Landry House on 10
acres in the country and operated La Maison
de Campagne Bed & Breakfast for 10 years.
We co-founded the LA. B & B Association and
worked very closely with the Lt. Governor's
Office (for Tourism) which was very exciting.
While doing this we were honored to be
involved in John Folse's "Taste of Louisiana"
PBS series where Joeann was featured along
with our Bed and Breakfast. Joeann also
published her wonderful cookbook, Lache pas
la Patate! (Don't Drop the Potato!--an old Cajun
Saying) which is currently in its second
printing.
Additionally, after Army retirement I worked
as Director of Special Markets, Bernard's
Seafood Entree's for Two and then Director of
Facility Maintenance Security and Food
Service for First Baptist Church, Lafayette.
I also was privileged to have worked for
Promise Keepers, a Christian men's
conference ministry for 10 years (in my "spare
time") and was their senior event manager at
over 60 large conferences all over the US.
Three years ago we moved back to Sulphur
because of our parents' age and poor health
and the fact that Dan was deploying to Iraq
with his LANG Battalion. Also last year I
retired a third time (HA!) and began to
"volunteer" full-time with Joeann in our local
church, Maplewood First Baptist Church where
I was raised...what a blessing!!
It is both strange and fulfilling to be back
once again where I was raised after traveling
literally around the world in the military and
our other vocations. It is especially very
exciting to see how my fellow class mates
have adjusted so positively to what "life" has
thrown at them. You guys are very special to
me and I praise God for every remembrance of
you. Truly, we were privileged to have been
raised together in such a time and place
...Keep up the Fire!! Go Tors!!
Freddie McLemore,,,just a private in God's
Army......
