Earn Jolet
Biography
After graduating from Sulphur High School, I obtained a Bachelor of
Science degree in Zoology from McNeese State University and
decided to make a career in the U.S. Army Medical Service Corps. My
goal was to experience as many challenges that the Army would allow
during a span of twenty years.
During the next twenty years, I was exposed to many disciplines such
as Command, Human Resources, Supply, Training, Plans, Operations,
Teaching, Editing, Intelligence, Nuclear, Biological and Chemical
Defense and Budgeting. Two of the most interesting and rewarding
positions that I experienced were as an instructor at the Army Medical
Department School and Chief of Army Medical Training Literature.
During my three years as an instructor, I received valuable training on
how the prepare and teach information to students and obtain
feedback to insure that the information was received. My area of
concentration was how to operate and survive in a field environment.
As Chief of Army Medical Training Literature, I learned how to write
publications and prepare them for printing as well as what it takes to
actually get a publication from concept to reality.
In preparation for retirement from the military, I pursued several
postgraduate college courses in accounting, sales and marketing.
This provided me with the opportunity to become a Procedural Auditor
for a retail chain based in Texas after my retirement. This allowed me
to travel to many areas of Texas as I performed my duties and get to
see many parts of the state. I held that position for approximately nine
years until I decided to retire a second time.
Since then, I have occupied my time volunteering in San Antonio with
the San Antonio police department as a member of the Public Safety
Team. We are trained and authorized by city ordinance to issue
citations to individuals who park in Handicap slots and along fire lanes
without proper authorization. I spend two days a week at Brooke Army
Medical Center as a Scientific Aide working with a microbiologist in
the Clinical Investigation Department performing experiments /
investigations that are required by the department or of interest to the
microbiologist.
